By the time Paul writes Philippians, the events recorded in the book of Acts have all come to pass. Of course, that means that the Messiah1 has come—living righteously, dying sacrificially, and rising victoriously. In so doing he has ushered in a new covenant for his people (Jer. 31:31–34). He has sent his followers into the world to proclaim the gospel, to make disciples of the nations, and to plant local churches. The book of Acts records just that—30 or so years
